Hoon Kim

The Hoon Lab started in 2021 in the School of Pharmacy at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), in Suwon, South Korea.

Previously 

Before joining the faculty of SKKU, he was a senior research scientist at The Jackson Laboratory For Genomic Medicine (JAX), Farmington, CT. At JAX, he participated in multiple projects including Pan-Cancer analysis of extrachromosomal DNAs, and the effects of extrachromosomal DNAs in glioma evolution. He was the founding member of Glioma Longitudinal AnalySiS (GLASS).

Before that

In 2011, Hoon worked with Dr. Roel Verhaak in the Department of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology as postdoc and later in the Department of Genomic Medicine as research faculty at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, in Houston, Texas.

Even before that

Hoon received his doctoral degree for his thesis titled “Selection of Disease-Associated Gene Sets”, working with Dr. Dimitris Anastassiou at the Columbia University in New York, USA. Prior to completing his PhD, Hoon earned his MSc in Electrical Engineering-Systems from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and BS degrees in Electrical Engineering and Life Science from Korea University, Seoul.
